The most important thing for a child succeeding is to make sure their instrument is easy to play!
No matter where you purchased or rented your instrument, make sure it is professionally “set up.”
A setup ensures that it is as easy as possible on your child’s fingers, which will help them enjoy playing. This is NOT a sure thing from a manufacturer.

During September & October, if you have a child in Elementary Strings or another CYS program, The Troubadour will perform a diagnostic and professional setup for you, entirely for FREE.

Standard violin-family outfits (violin, viola, cello, & bass) include the instrument, a bow, a case/bag, and rosin.
All Troubadour instruments (including rentals) come with a Lifetime Maintenance Guarantee and a Custom Setup to ensure ease of play.

Yes, absolutely.

The Troubadour rents instruments in 3 quality levels:

New = Brand New (no one else has used it)
Great = Like New (appears new, but has been rented before)
Good = Gently Used (will appear used, but in good condition)

Many rental instruments at other stores have been passed around for so long, by so many hands, that they are beaten almost beyond usability.
The Troubadour never rents instruments in such condition. Rather, heavily used instruments will be fixed in our renowned expert repair workshop and sold for reasonable prices.

Yes. A minimal additional monthly payment will prevent possible additional charges as a result of mistreatment, damage, or loss of rental instruments.
Rates are dependent on instrument type and rental term.
Currently only available for rentals to school-age children.

The minimum rental term is 1 month.
Renters who keep the instrument for a longer term will have their rent payment credited to prorate for partial possession during the first month.
